Present: Rosie Hallett, David & Janice Hearn,
Simon Nobes, Gil Smith
Minutes of the meeting of 4 January 2010 were
approved.
Simon Nobes reported that since the association
with Google, started just over 2 years ago, over 49,000 Page Impressions of
the site had been made.
The website is now attracting a variety of topics, a
recent one being information about a camera found in Litton Cheney, and how the
owner can retrieve it.
David Hearn reported that the LCWG balance
remained unchanged.
The main discussion of the meeting was
the involvement of the LCWG with the LATCH Internet Cafe Project.
David and Gil had met with Alison, Head Teacher at
Thorner's School, and reported that:
1) General connection from the School to
the Hall was good, and should ensure good connection with the Internet.
2)
There are Restrictions on which Internet Sites are available, and all who access
the internet there must have signed a form first agreeing to certain
conditions.
3) There are no facilities there for keeping valuable
equipment safe.
4) The School can provide laptops for use, and also a
projector.
It was resolved that:
1) The LCWG will be
present at the LATCH Saturday Cafe in March.
2) Rosie will email John
Firrell to get notice of this in the March BVN.
3) David Hearn will circulate
between LCWG members a list of possible topics for the Saturday Cafe for
consideration, so that suitable posters can be produced for display on the
village notice boards, and at the February Saturday Cafe.
The meeting closed at 9:30 pm.
