We now know that the BBC's independent survey on the need for BBC Radio
Dorset is starting 'about now' and will take 6 to 8 weeks to
complete. It is intended to cover all of the county. The
outcome will decide if they invest in Dorset or not!
Hence, this is the time (if you will please) to let your friends and
neighbours, and as many people in the county as possible know, and also,
hopefully, persuade them that this is something the vast majority wants (per
our own survey a few years ago, when 95% wanted local news and events
coverage on both radio and on TV!).
What we don't know is the form of the questions, or how they are to be
posed/conducted. We very much hope you will help us pre-warn
Dorset residents so as to ensure a positive result.
The BBC said it will take some time to complete the analysis, but we expect
to hear the results by September. We will keep everyone informed as
soon as we hear.
For more information e.g. who is on the Executive Committee, current and past
activities and issues, how to improve your reception etc., see www.dorbag.org.uk

Background
and need for the discussion.
The
hosting of the Olympics at Weymouth and Portland, in respect of
Broadband, stated that two high fibre links were being put in place
and that two exchanges would be updated for the Olympic events. There
was a need for a business case to keep the exchange and other
equipment after the games as otherwise BT could withdraw it.
